Bouncing from rock to rock around the world

Deeper into the Sea of Cortez

This place is lovely. The desert has far more colors than you’d think and it’s wild to think about how many perfect beaches and lovely backdrops are here, driving distance south from California and Arizona, and how seemingly unknown this whole area is relatively. It’s surprising how big these mountains are as well. The Baja peninsula is lowkey a huge mountain range that gets steeper and more dramatic as it goes south. Good for spotting spots where evil lairs could be.

Further North

As Cabo, literally cape, makes the rounding point, these photos are in south to north order heading up. By this point we know we are going to be Kayak Guides over the summer back in the San Juan Islands working for a friend we made when we were living on the dock there. To make the deadline and also for Heather to surprise her mum for retiring, we know we are going to haul out at the end of April in Guaymas, about 2/3rds of the way up the Sea of Cortez on the mainland Mexico side in Sinaloa.

The map is more interesting as far as cruising goes on the Baja side so the general modus aperandi is to explore up the Baja East Coast until the time comes to cross the sea in an overnight trip making it over to the San Carlos/Guaymas area.
