Doug Peterson 37
Designed to the IOR/International Offshore Rules (a style of rules for racing sailboats) dominating the day, Karma was built in Chita, Japan and launched in Dana Point of all places as ‘Sunjammer’ in 1977.
The boat was raced successfully there for a number of years before making the move up to the Astoria/Portland area. At this point the name was changed to Karma and painted blue, mast and all. In 2014 the mast came down when the port side chainplate ripped out of the deck. The next owner had a hardy splice put in the mast and did some small bulkhead fixes, using the boat for weekend trip but storing it on the hard. We purchased Karma in Anacortes and did more extensive repairs including a full rerig and here she is now!
Here are some of the general specs on the boat:

- 7 foot draft
- 60 foot air-draft
