Alaska 54° 42.44N, Turning South

Lax Kw’alaams slang shat us to the Alaskan border on July 16th, 2023. We had been heading north from Friday Harbor since May 6th. The border would be our turn around point, as the Alaskan cruising grounds deserve much more than the 1 week we could give it. One day………

Notable was the spinny incident rounding Pt Caution

And here is where we have gone! In handy map form, as requested by Grandma and Grandpa :^) Love you!

The Alaskan border ceremony included the ever classy lukewarm pina colada and a pink flamingo from Prince Rupert’s ever classy Walmart. I was very stoked on this yellow PVC rainjacket from a Rupert thrift store as well, though I had to patch it many times.

We hove to, for the first time ever, on the border, ran lines and the dinghy behind Karma, cheerseddd and thanked Neptune for the gentle wind that day.

Zoe gracefully and illegally descended into the water first. I followed but in poor form, as I popped the body of our pink friend upon impact.

Trevor and Liam were left with the upper bit of the flamingo to ride into the wild Alaskan waters but enjoyed an audience of Alaskan fishing boats.

So this new ai tool thing below is fairly accurate to what it felt like, as you can compare to the real image above. But without the dang bug bites! Horseflies ate us ALIVE at the next anchorage in the Dundas Islands, Brundige Inlet.

The plan now is to cross the Hecate Strait to Haida Gwaii with our two stowaways and their bicycles. They will do some biking then ferry back to Prince Rupert/Terrace/Rebelstroke;) while we make our way through Gwaii Haanas National Park.

Southbound!
